Privacy Policy

Sky Map ("we," "our," or "us") is a stargazing and astronomy app built by Horus Teknoloji ve Dijital Hizmetler A.Ş. Sky Map needs to know where you are pointing your phone in order to draw your sky — but it does not need to know who you are. This Privacy Policy explains exactly what the app uses, what stays on your device, and what is shared with third parties.

No Account Required

Sky Map does not require an account. We do not ask for your name, email address, or phone number, and we do not build an advertising profile about you. There are no third-party ad networks and no cross-app tracking.

Location

Astronomy is location-dependent: your visible sky, rise and set times, and satellite passes all depend on your coordinates. With your permission, Sky Map reads your precise location from the operating system and uses it on your device to compute the sky for your position. Location is used for app functionality only — it is not linked to your identity, not sold, and not used for advertising.

• You can decline location access and enter or search a location manually instead.
• You can revoke access at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services.
• Approximate coordinates may be sent to a weather provider to retrieve cloud cover, humidity, and visibility for your observing score. No identifier accompanies that request.

Camera (AR Sky View)

The AR sky view needs the camera so labels can be drawn over the live scene. The camera feed is processed in real time on your device and is never recorded, stored, or transmitted by Sky Map. Camera access is optional; every other part of the app works without it.

Motion & Compass Sensors

Sky Map reads the device compass, gyroscope, and accelerometer to know which way you are pointing. These readings are used only to orient the sky on screen and are not stored or transmitted.

Your Journal & Content You Create

Observation journal entries — notes, equipment, ratings, and any photos you attach — plus your saved targets, planned sessions, and settings are stored locally on your device. We do not read them and we do not upload them to our servers. If you delete Sky Map, this content is removed with it. Anything you back up through iCloud is governed by Apple's terms and encryption, not ours.

Nova, the AI Astronomer

When you ask Nova a question, your question together with the astronomical context needed to answer it (for example your approximate sky coordinates, local time, and the object you are viewing) is sent to our AI processing provider to generate a reply. These requests are not tied to your name or an account, are used only to answer you, and are not used to train advertising profiles. Please do not type personal or sensitive information into Nova.

Notifications

If you enable alerts for satellite passes or planned observations, reminders are scheduled and delivered through Apple's notification system. You can turn them off at any time in iOS Settings.

Subscriptions & Purchases

Sky Map Plus is sold through the App Store. Apple processes your payment — we never see your card, billing address, or Apple ID. Purchase history and anonymous receipt data are used to unlock your subscription, restore it on a new device, and to understand aggregate subscription performance. This is the only category of data that may be linked to your Apple account, and it is handled by Apple and our subscription management provider.

Anonymous Diagnostics

To keep the app stable we may collect anonymous crash reports and basic performance metrics (device model, iOS version, whether a screen loaded successfully). These reports contain no personal information and cannot be used to identify you. You can disable "Share iPhone Analytics" in your device settings.

If You Email Us

When you contact us at hello@horusstudios.com, we can see your email address and whatever you write. We use it only to reply, and we do not add you to any marketing list.

Children

Sky Map is rated 4+ and includes a family-friendly Kids Mode. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If a parent or guardian believes their child has sent us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Your Rights

Because we do not maintain an account or profile for you, most rights (access, correction, deletion, portability) are satisfied by managing the data on your device and deleting the app. For anything else — including deletion of email correspondence — write to hello@horusstudios.com.

Changes to This Policy

If we change how Sky Map handles data, we will update this page and, when the change is significant, note it in-app. The principles above — no account, on-device content, location for functionality only — remain our default.
